Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Reason: malicious content posted by unknown person. Request edit and then protection Keshav Prakash DOP (talk) 11:56, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:38, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated vandalism, mostly IP but sometimes by newly registered users. Minimal constructive edits from IP users. It's also an ongoing controversial, contentious topic, which puts the article at a more strict encyclopedic standard. In addition, the topic is high-profile with various political views involved in the current events, which could potentially conflicting with the neutrality of the article, if anyone can edit it. Requesting indefinite semi-protection. Pradedovići (talk) 16:00, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Please enforce WP:CT/EE. IanDBeacon (talk) 16:25, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Could you clarify what you mean by this? Pradedovići (talk) 20:52, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Pradedovići: Eastern Europe and the Balkans are considered a contentious topic, where administrators can impose special rules and restrictions on both editors and pages. IanDBeacon, I think that administrators can recognise which areas are contentious topics and shouldn't feel obliged to use the procedure when normal protections would work. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:37, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated vandalism by IP-hopper. Vif12vf/Tiberius (talk) 16:24, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Temporary full protection: Edit warring against consensus. Koshuri (グ) 17:58, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- If I may. I would ask for Indefinite Sock ECP, considering recent disruptions by bunch of sockfarms:
- – Garuda Talk! 21:39, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IPs keep on removing sourced content and sources and adds unsourced content [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]. -. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:03, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: WP:GSRUSUKR; IPs adding unsourced or poorly sourced content. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 18:39, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated edits by anon IPs removing reference to the commonly-used epoch for ISO 8601 dates, presumably due to relevance to current political issues. (Should be fine to leave open to editing by actual logged-in users for now.) Auros (talk) 19:10, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- There are political issues connected to May 20, 1875. But the date is no longer in the ISO 8601 standard and the removals by certain IP editors were well reasoned. Jc3s5h (talk) 21:14, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Looks like the IPs were, for once, on the side of the angels. Favonian (talk) 22:04, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Lot of reverted edits by new users and IPs. They should use the talk page. Mach61 19:39, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- doh, shouldn't have selected "vandalism" as the reason in twinkle Mach61 21:33, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: vandalism.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:58, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: sock puppetry & editwarring Magherbin (talk) 20:01, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent disruptive editing by blocked sockpuppet IPs. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Realityteav. Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:27, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 20:29, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. HistoryofIran (talk) 20:30, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Ip vandalism changing boxoffice figure without citing reliable source. Already reverted four times but 103.163.117.229 IP keeps making disruptive change. RangersRus (talk) 20:31, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated addition of unsourced and unfounded information by several IPs for self-promotion. SGT64 (talk) 22:29, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: BLP policy violations – There are several problems related to this page. I suspect that the two editors doing frequent reverts, which include an uncited DOB for a child, are the same person (i.e. sockpuppet) and probably COI. I'm not sure where else to report this, but in the meantime can the page be semi-protected so that I can restore it to a version which does not include exact DOB (per WP:DOB), in the first instance, please?. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 23:28, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Per WP:CT/A-I. jlwoodwa (talk) 01:29, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content, continued after protection expired. Waxworker (talk) 14:12, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. FMSky (talk) 15:18, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: edit warring and weird comparisons to Jesus Christ in see also. Borgenland (talk) 16:16, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Isla🏳️⚧ 17:12, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. After page protection expires, Ip users return and did again vandalism on article, even if semi protection, some users deleting source, needed indefinite semi protection, please protect the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rohiths90 (talk • contribs) 17:27, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP removing sourced info, against consensus, multiple editors reverting their edits. This article has had similar problems with IP editors in the past. Andrew Englehart (talk) 20:13, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- The matter has been quite obviously resolved.77.22.105.171 (talk) 21:16, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Reason: High level of IP vandalism Bicke110 (talk) 22:43, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. In fact, it's only ever been edited by you. Favonian (talk) 22:54, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Reason: People keep putting the title "New York City" as a title of a film in the fall of 2026. This is clearly fake. Georgia guy (talk) 23:21, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
